      Yeah @DreamcastGuy and I did a video on it and played Mario 3. I used Luigi with no issues.

      Turns out you just can't do it local in handheld mode. If you go in through 1 player in the switch menu, you can still select 2 players on mario. Just nothing happens with Luigi. If you go through via 2 players in handheld, it still wants you to sync two seperate controllers.

      So in other words, you cant two player any of these games in handheld unless you want to use the kick stand. At that point I'll just use my TV.

      Your console in handheld mode is player one. It thinks it's an NES, so it needs a second controller for Luigi.
