Here let me fix this for Splatoon 2. Don’t want people save state cheating to older rankings? All online rank data is kept on Nintendo’s severs, like every other multiplayer game in existence. Problem solved. Now can I back up my 60 hours or Splat 2 single player data please?
They should have done that from the start. Now they have a LOT of work to do to retrofit it

They won’t retrofit it. People are fooling themselves with this online service. They are locking p2p gaming behind a service while storing multiplayer data locally on system. So what exactly are we paying for?
