54% of the El Paso County early voters did not vote in the 2014 midterm election, at least not in this county. 15% didn't vote in El Paso in the 2016 presidential election. Again, those percentages have been going up each day of early voting. 3/

So the trend I reported earlier this week is actually accelerating. Younger, more infrequent voters are driving an unprecedented turnout surge in El Paso, which has long had one of the worst turnout rates for large urban areas. 4/

I can't get reliable race/ethnicity data in
@EP_Elections voter files, but given that El Paso County is 85% Hispanic, this young, irregular surge in voting is almost certainly overwhelmingly Hispanic. 5/Show this thread -
Younger, Hispanic and irregular voters are groups that Democrats have long targeted, with little success. El Paso is home to
@BetoORourke, so the surge may be more intensified here than elsewhere in TX. Wish someone would do this kind of dive in other county voter files. 6/Show this thread
