Very excited to share our latest work published on ! With , we address long-standing mystery that testis has the most widespread transcriptome. We proposed that ‘transcriptional scanning’ modulates gene mutation rates, and ultimately gene evolution rates!

We also surprisingly found that the mutational signatures has a “3’-pyrimidine rule”: the asymmetric mutation pattern between coding- and template-strand mutation rates is preferably established at sites followed by 3’-pyrimidines. 2/n)

Thank you for adding the Twitter summary! I was about to add 😉 Another point I really like is the germline mutational signatures. We found bidirectional- and extended- transcription signatures, which indicates the transcriptional-dependency of germline mutations. 1/n)

This has been a great journey with my mentor ! We brainstormed&worked together for many days and nights, in NYC and Boston. Can’t appreciate enough that I have the luck to work with such a supportive mentor! If you are looking for a mentor&friend, find him!!

Is there a term describing the kind of random idea that is so interesting that you can’t wait to write it down, even on a napkin ? “Napkin Idea”? My brain was so active during a 10day silence meditation camp. I really had no choice but wrote ideas on napkins -many.

We know that human chromosome 2 is fused from two ancient ape chromasomes, but what if our 2n=46 evolves to be 2n=6 and can we still be human being? We don’t know and may never know. But we can glimpse something from studying two close muntjak species.

After 25 years of researching aging & having read thousands of scientific papers, if there’s one simple piece of advice to stay healthy longer & max. your lifespan it’s this: eat less often. The cool new stuff is in my book. Excited it’s shipping. Get one.
