Black neighborhoods are already redlined and disinvested. But the biggest investments we bring to Black neighborhoods are police. Not deep investments in greenlining Black neighborhoods and investing in people.

As
@50ShadesofKellz noted, it is really something to juxtapose the premiering of the documentary "Baltimore Rising" (about the 2015 uprising/occupation) with how a West Baltimore neighborhood is being occupied by police right now.Show this thread -
We should be able to find out who killed Det. Suiter: 1) Interview his partner 2) Get fingerprints from Suiter's gun 3) Pull video footage of activity in the area at time of shooting 4) Partner with the community instead of installing checkpoints in their neighborhood

It is possible to want justice for Det. Suiter and catch his killer while ALSO advocating for racial justice in the way we police West Baltimore's Black neighborhoods.

Oh yeah, we are supposed to have a police monitoring team in place selected by Judge Kevin Bredar from the DOJ consent decree. A combination of Veneble & Kenneth Thompson's teams. Where are they at? Why are they not MONITORING the BPD right now?

What is this supposed to accomplish? Not being rhetorical. Genuinely want to know.

I too would like to know what police occupation tactics are designed to accomplish. I don't see them as boosting trust between community and police. Do you?
-
Nope. Bpd claims it's to preserve the crime scene but it doesn't seem like you need to occupy a neighborhood to accomplish thay

Citizen murdered by cop: "it happens." Cop killed by bad guy: "absolutely unacceptable." They have it absolutely backwards.pic.twitter.com/GvInGWCg1I

And
@MayorPugh50 is nowhere to be found? Condolences for such bad leadership and policing in Baltimore. Stay safe.

When a revered Homicide Detective (Sean Suiter) is murdered, you'd better believe the police will be out in force.

Stop shooting police and each other. Then police will have no reason to "occupy" your neiborhood.

Hmm, wonder if it's a police problem, or a West Baltimore problem.
