I decided to use blockchain because it has to be irreversible and globally available. Civic already provides identify. Not all cats can be identified but a mix of local geography could help. If you can provide args against blockchain I'm listening

Arguments against blockchain : slow access lot of overhead with no added value. If people trust you why need for blockchain? Even when using blockchain your access software could tamper data. Blockchain storage has to be paid too. There are other cheap storage possibilities

Thomas it looks like you never touched a blockchain and have a lot of preconception Hyperledger or Waves slow ? I think that the cheapest storage on the market now it Gcloud, I know it because it hosts a lot of my apps. Can you suggest something cheaper ?

Not played with any blockchain yet, but all I read says the data access and validation is slow compared to any normal DB what specifically do you mean when saying gCloud?

What do you mean slow ? example Postgres is very slow when compared to HBase under large scale. Pets id would be computed on the client (mobile) and access the block directly by the generated hash so you only have network time. It's nearly instant by design.

If it's possible to compute the ID directly then fine so far I only read examples where this wasn't possible so a lot of records had to be searched

The idea would be to take a lot of entries using the mobile camera and generate and unique id which is the code of the inalterable block. Only the ownership can be altered by extending the chain.Iid of the animal is the id of the block. Thanks for helping me out clarify this !!

The 'permisionned' blockchains that I know and could use are : https://www.ibm.com/blockchain/hyperledger … https://www.hyperledger.org/projects/sawtooth … Those are linux foundation projects. And this one was working instantly in previous caseshttps://github.com/wavesplatform

In my cases it would be all the vets and associations if that's your questions. You use commodity hardware. But you can also go with 'permissionless' that use the cryptocurrency to pay the costs of informations transports and hosting.
