My question is because I'm a senior citizen with very limited resources and looking at this proposal which generally I like the concept, but i wonder if developers are being unrealistic about the costs and the fees? thanks

The vision of decentralized finance is financial markets (borrowing/lending, trading) without intermediaries. The hope is this will improve efficiency, transparency and cost-effectiveness. MakerDAO, Compound, Uniswap are examples of DeFi apps w/ the most traction today.
