There's a certain amount of the game's narrative, too. Legion was about everyone banding together against npc baddies. BfA was about tearing apart the planet before the other faction could and warring amongst ourselves. And maybe it was just too drastic of a change for some.
I want to fully agree with this, but I do also think there’s a really noticeable trend of many highly loyal people moving on to FFXIV. It’s too many originally huge fans leaving to be a coincidence. I think the expansion pushed many fans away for some reason that’s hard to know.

I haven't really changed in 10 years and I have a massive nostalgia with the game, especially considering this is where I met my husband. We've been very loyal fans since the beginning, but the game hasn't felt right. I get where you're coming from, but can't say I agree either.
