It takes work to move from a carceral response to everything to questions of basic needs, how people are cared for and/or wellbeing. I'm glad I'm mostly there.

We are retweeting slides from the parent meeting at Lincoln Park HS happening right now. Students walked out today in protest of staff removals & basketball season suspension. We don't know much else. Read more here:

I can safely say that in 22 years of being a political journalist, I've never experienced a day like today. No.10 sources now insisting that political editors like myself "are not banned, they are just not invited".

Representation matters; it tells the story of who gets to be seen (and who doesn’t).

You can learn more of Eva here but the gist is this: she was a Black social worker who advocated for the safety of the Black children who weren’t being placed in orphanages. So, SHE CREATED HER OWN.

MURKOWSKI: “I cannot vote to convict.” She has harsh words for everyone, including Trump, but says House process was “rotten.” She also says she decided to vote against witnesses because she didn’t want to see a tie vote result in attacks on Roberts.

But to this day, you haven't publicly disparaged the guy or commented on his deeds. You just repost an Instagram with an emoji over a picture of the guy doing your protest, with a caption stating that you thought we're past the protest. Basically, using the guy's words.

He receives backlash, so he pushes you to have a tryout to get back in the league...but the contract offered waives your rights. So you host your own work and mind your business. He then uses your protest on the most lucrative day for the company, the one he said "we're" past.

Imagine getting fired for protesting and then a guy wears your jersey out of respect. Then the same guy goes to the people blackballing you to cut a deal. He then says that "we" are past your protest. Then he comments on your protest constantly in the media to justify the deal.

Academic Language is often a disguise for oppression. The following graphics decode some of the words often heard in academia. There’s a lot to unpack here, but there’s great dialogue happening over on the Subversive Thread Instagram. A lot of emotional labor to read & recognize.
