"It should be easy" but now it won't be? Not following the logic @TeamYouTube.
So now I'm no longer eligible for verification and will lose that status next month. Even though, y'know, LGR has 1.2 million subs, 8 million monthly viewers, and plenty of coverage in the media. K.https://twitter.com/TeamYouTube/status/1174735005215420416 …

Sure seems like LGR meets the requirements, but then I get this email. Will absolutely be submitting a dispute.pic.twitter.com/lCMwZMZ57m

I can't imagine how this makes anything better for anyone. The biggest channels don't require this kind of thing. What it DOES do is screw with "normal" channels like mine that have actually had frequent problems with scam accounts impersonating LGR and spamming in the comments.

Replying to @lazygamereviews @TeamYouTube
Seems like they wanna limit verification now to a) straight up celebrities and b) people who their advertisers would most like to support

The more I think about it, the more I'm fine with it. I don't think being verified had any special features attached to it, it was just a badge of honor. Now it's a badge for who's a marketer.

It seriously helped me in the comments, both on my channel and others. For a long time people were making fake LGR accounts to comment as me, saying awful stuff on my channel and other places. Verification made sure that people knew which was the real LGR.

Right, yeah, I hadn't even thought about that, because I'm still small enough it's never been a concern. Never mind, you're right, this sucks.
