The phrase "rapid onset gender dysphoria" is necessary to denote the sudden appearance of trans ideation in teens exposed to trans peers on-line or at school. "Late-onset" has been used for decades to denote slow-growing gender dysphoria that manifests to others in adulthood.

The term ROGD is usually used to imply a specific model/etiology (dysphoria based in social contagion rather than AGP/AAP). There needs to be dne more to distinguish onset pattern from etiology to more clearly discuss causes.

My response to this rebuttal of my WSJ piece in the NYT: 1/ Conservatives didn't invent ROGD and it isn't a political designation; it's a term Lisa Littman used - and it is a clinical term; she's a public health researcher and medical doctor. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/08/opinion/trans-teen-transition.html …

Uh, uh, uh, should we trust the TRA community that is actively preventing any research that could put the TRA ideology into question? So disingenuous.

I have several teenagers. They go to a large school. They say every grade has a group of kids, a group of friends - usually girls - who are all transitioning to some extent. It's absolutely a trendy thing. Anyone saying this isn't happening is either mendacious or a fool.

Can I get dysphoria when I'm 50? I'm 31 currently and have no problems with my biological sex and have no desire to transition. But can I develop those desires in 20 years or so? Like many other men who decide to "become women" and transition after decades of hetero marriage.

Have you ever been sexually aroused with the idea of yourself as a woman or with wearing "women clothes"? I think that question will answer you.

I interviewed 17 families whose adolescent daughters identify as transgender. Here's what I learned. My piece in the @WSJopinion (Monday's print edition): https://www.wsj.com/articles/when-your-daughter-defies-biology-11546804848 …
