New preprint by Golubchik and colleagues from Oxford shows viral loads in samples from individuals infected with the new variant were three-fold higher in individuals with the new variant. (Only seen the pdf, no link)

We don't know this, as the increase viral load may only be in the nose. (Making someone less unwill would let the virus spread faster)

This does not tell us if a new strain having higher virus load in nose results it in having higher load elsewhere. It only tells us that virus load is a predictor when everyone infected with same strains.
