In March '20, Boris will increase our minimum wage to Eur 10.38 per hour, the highest in the EU27, bar Luxembourg. Do you think the UK should insist that the EU increases its "workers' protections", to ensure a level playing field and end social dumping?
UE is about to setup minimum wage for entire union this year. And BoJo is not going to do anything. UK will start drifting away from UE and direction for it is only down.

The EU's proposed minimum wage will not be set at a level higher than all EU member states bar Lux, or near the UK's Eur 10.38/hr (if it ever happens: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/eu-minimum-wage-brexit-uk-trade-unions-a9299206.html …) The UK has much higher min wages and better social protections in many areas vs the typical EU state
