Marijuana should be legalized, and drug consumption should be decriminalized. These are matters of public health.

You mean like fentanyl? Heroin? Highly addictive drugs that can kill on first use? Destroy families. Place ppl into crushing poverty? Kids growing up with drug addicted Parents? Really? Marijuana, sure. The rest? Not so much.

In a variety of countries around the world, selling drugs remains illegal but owning them is not. Instead of imprisoning people, they put much more effort into drug treatment and rehabilitation programmers so people can come off substances they’re addicted to.

I agree with most of what you say however AOC didn’t mention criminal justice abuse nor rehabbing addicts. I’ve experienced first hand clients w addiction and recidivism issues. We need to do better. I interpret her tweet as irresponsible though.
