I've never seen anything as pathetic as UK politicians saying that they have "no choice" but to "get on with it" and fuck over generations of constituents because people are "bored". Their job is to do the boring part by understanding democracy & they've failed at both.

A poll isn't democracy. A 2016 non-binding referendum isn't either. If you want democracy, have a vote for the final proposal. If you're so certain of the numbers, a loud and clear people's mandate should not be something you fear or oppose.

A non-binding referendum is democracy, and it's also non-binding. You can't cling to it as "the people's mandate" because people weren't even told it would be a mandate. It was a temperature measurement, not a "in 2019 we will treat this as binding".
