I had a hard time watching Kenneth Branagh's "Death on the Nile" with all the dancing, bad acting, bad CGI scenery and fake French accents. The 1978 version feels way more authentic.

When Elon announced this project it was going to be autonomous vehicles transporting up to 16 people per vehicle at a speed of 124mph. It's now finished and the result is regular Tesla cars going up to 35mph in a single lane tunnel that can only be used one direction at a time

The "Software Engineering at Google" book is now free to read online: . Great insights on improving code quality & scaling engineering teams.

Today, software engineers need to know not only how to program effectively but also how to develop proper engineering practices to make their codebase sustainable and healthy. This book emphasizes this difference between programming and software engineering.

How can software engineers manage a living codebase that evolves and responds to changing requirements and demands over the length of its life? Based on their experience at Google, software engineers Titus Winters and Hyrum Wright, along with technical writer Tom Manshreck, present a candid and insightful look at how some of the world’s leading practitioners construct and maintain software.

This book covers Google’s unique engineering culture, processes, and tools and how these aspects contribute to the effectiveness of an engineering organization.

Note that the Android implementation of URL.equals() does not perform network DNS queries since Android 4. But the standard Java implementation does and so will your unit tests.

Your yearly reminder that Java's URL class is broken and you must never compare two instances of it or use them as keys. Avoid it entirely if you don't use URLConnection.
