    WEBelieve has worked w/ prominent public figures & major brands to provide leadership programs to 1,000+ women & girls of color. The organization has chapters at over 20 college campuses, including Columbia U, George Washington University, and Stony Brook U.

    Today, Chelsea works w/ entrepreneurs & aspiring entrepreneurs to assist in developing strategies to build their brands through masterclasses. Chelsea is also co-founder & CEO of Women Everywhere Believe (WEBelieve), a national leadership pipeline for women & girls of color.

    Chelsea Miller, alongside Columbia classmate Nialah Edari, co-founded Freedom March NYC, largest youth-led civil rights org. to address feelings of fear & voicelessness within her community in the wake of public Black trauma; most notably the 2020 police killing of George Floyd.

    Rhodes Scholar & Fulbright Fellow, she's been named Forbes 30 under 30, Bloomberg50, Time Next 100, Fortune Mag's "conscience of the AI revolution". She is the first Black researcher on the cover of Fast Company appearing in the 2020 “Most Creative People” issue.

    Her MIT thesis uncovered large racial & gender bias in AI services from companies ie Microsoft, IBM, & Amazon. In 2020, these companies stepped back from selling facial recognition technology to law enforcement.

    Dr. Joy Buolamwini, computer scientist & poet of code, uses art & research to show social impacts of AI. She founded Algorithmic Justice League to create a world w/ equitable & accountable tech. She also serves on the Global Tech Panel advising leaders & execs on reducing AI harm

    These initiatives led to a major investment of new resources in Brown’s educational mission. In addition to numerous other awards, in 2011, Simmons received the Rosenberger Medal, which is the highest honor Brown faculty can bestow.

    During her time at Brown, she created a set of initiatives - The Plan for Academic Enrichment - to expand & strengthen faculty; increase financial support/resources for UG, grad, & medical students; improve facilities & ensure diversity informed every dimension of the University.

    In 2001 Ruth Simmons became 1st Black President of an Ivy League as 18th Pres. of Brown. Dr. Simmons achieved a similar feat in 1995 when she became 1st Black woman Pres. of a major college/uni, Smith College, where she started the 1st engineering program at a US women’s college.

    Shouting out Dr. Jalaal Hayes, , who in 2015 at age 22 became youngest Ph.D. in Applied Chemistry in the US & youngest ever Doctoral Candidate in Delaware State University’s 124-year history. Dr. Hayes is currently Asst. Prof of Chemistry at Lincoln U.

    Today recognizes Brown U. student & 2021 DC Youth Poet Laureate Amiri Nash who, along w/ friend Lexi Brown, started Sign of Justice, an org. that creates & posts signs with scan codes in predominantly white public places to begin conversations & encourage action.

    recognizes Nicholas Johnson, 1st Black valedictorian in Princeton U’s 275-yr history. Nicholas is now pursuing a doctorate in operations research @ MIT to leverage his skills & tackle important issues in healthcare & finance. What a trailblazer!

    In its first year, ~70% of BlackGen’s roughly 64 members secured jobs & internships on Wall Street thanks to sponsors including: Bank of America, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo. BlackGen now has chapters at other universities & colleges across the US.

    BlackGen members participate in a 10-week finance training program, and engage in hands-on experience in pitching and managing investment ideas. Profits from the fund are reinvested, and also used to support BlackGen’s events and initiatives.
