These figures are even more impressive when you look at the growth of the world's population. During that time frame, the world's population increased from from about 1.8 billion in 1920 to about 8 billion in 2020.

The decrease in deaths from disasters is indeed a triumph. Like smoke alarms & fire escapes in a blaze, the right measures can greatly increase survivability. However… getting out of a burning house alive doesn't mean you shouldn't still be concerned that your home's on fire.

My issue with this is that it doesn’t take into account for technology. We didn’t have satellites, 24/7 news, global shipping to the extent we do, the transportation system for food/water/supplies much easier, weather models, television etc.
