I support your views (and quite honestly hope you are right), but there has to be a better argument than one based on authority right?
I don't think it is a question of authority; EPA and US Climate Assessment has shown the three relevant measures for heatwaves and the *data* all show the 1930s were strongest Dessler made up his own measure that doesn't even measure heat waves and was wrong

But why exactly is his way of measuring wrong? I know it isn’t your responsibility to answer thoroughly to every single critique, but it would be interesting to see it explained with more detail. Better yet if it is at a level more uneducated people (like myself) can understand.

I mean, even if it is just a “tweet by dessler”, it is its content that should be fully adressed. Your other tweet seems to undermine him based on a lack of authority alone (compared to that of the EPA).
