I don't see how an increase in area helps. It would need an increase in height to prevent becoming submerged.

Tuvalu will not be wiped off the map. Past 40 years land area *grew* 2.9%.

Area is the variable that researches can measure over time (using areal photos) Since land area is above sea level by definition, it means that more of Tuvalu stayed *above* local sea level rise bc accretion

An interesting dynamic, but it would be misleading to extrapolate to other areas in which global warming is having a profound effect. Nature has a finite ability to heal, and those in decision making positions are very capable of stifling action if personal interests are at stake
