One of the things you learn as a scientist is the ability to look at a plot and think, "that just doesn't look right." That's the feeling I got when I saw this plot that Lomborg is currently pushing.pic.twitter.com/L6Lz8jEuFw

I’m not your programmer. Did YOU look at 2 and 3 day events? Did you look at nighttime minimum temperatures? Did you do any additional research or did you just look at the plot and think that it agrees with your message so you’ll go with it?
Maybe the reason most temp.records were set in the 30s and 40s is because it was a tad warm. Didn't even need record adjusting or glorified urban heat affect
Now can you tell us what specifically caused the heat waves on the mid-1930s? Was it something about mechanized agricultural techniques which denuded the soil, causing a major loss of soil moisture permitting higher temperatures. This was a anthropogenic climate catastrophe.
Events were largely dynamically driven, associated with large scale planetary wave trains.
That whole thread shouldn’t even need to exist. When will you take your dirty fossil fuel cash and run? It’s over
Maybe I'm being judgemental, but I kind of wonder if the fractured language here is a reflection of a fractured thought process.

A technical note: the "exceeding a 1-in-10 year recurrence" part of this heatwave index definition picks out the larger deviations from the average. Recent decades have had a lot of similar-intensity heatwaves, so it's only the worst ones that make it onto this plot.
