The UK government plans to phase out gas and diesel cars from 2030. Yet, the PM's climate spokesperson is unwilling to trade in her diesel for an electric car. It’s not being reported that all electric cars are much wider than older cars and won’t fit into existing UK garages where they could easily be charged.

You'd have to massively increase power generation to replace all internal combustion engines with electric. That'd also need a vast upgrade of the transmission system. How is this electricity going to be generated? What's the cost of the infrastructure (economic & environmental)?
