In other news, wind and sun existed for ever but real progress started with the invention of steam engine and then has been turbocharged by the invention of AC.

Oil is already failing with subsidies, because we invested in new tech that is on ita way to become much much cheaper than oil
-
If this was true I'd be delighted. If it's just ignorance and wishful thinking

There has been green innovation for years, as well as colossal investment. The problem is the maths, and a reluctance to face the numbers.

'the claim that green is cheaper is off' weird that the article says: ".. is likely to push wholesale electricity prices so low on windy days..."
-
On low wind days they don't make much money. On windy days they don't make much money. They can only make money on 'just right' days but they still cost money to install and maintain. With a maximum capacity factor of 40-50% there just isn't a lot of opportunity to make money.

Well they ain't going to give up on net zero so we should expect subsidies (and ultimately higher taxes) to continue
-
I think that's it. Once the agreed per MWH price ends govts will simply set up new commercially viable prices.

The "oh noes, renewables make electricity too cheap - therefore it's not economically viable" claim is ridiculous. Periodically super cheap electricity makes battery business boom, increasing demand. Permanently super cheap electricity makes EV business boom, increasing demand.
