Are you suggesting that because we can do gene therapy that we should ignore climate change? Gene therapy was invented to combat overpopulation, a completely different problem. Also, climate change doesn't just affect crops.

The climate has always changed (& in various directions) we clearly should not ignore it but merely adapt as is needed. Far easier to do this by using all sensible technical innovations and thus have more resources to do any adaptations needed.

Fantastic! here is what I want: a shelled clam, able to float on the sea surface, that can eat micro plastics and use the sun, CO2 from the atmosphere and water to generate energy and produce as byproduct carbon based waste heavier than water. Anyone knows how to engineer one?
