EU’s failed biofuels policy has wiped out forests the size of the Netherlands "Crop biofuels are not the solution for Europe’s transport and they never will be.”https://www.transportenvironment.org/press/10-years-eu%E2%80%99s-failed-biofuels-policy-has-wiped-out-forests-size-netherlands-study …

Exactly. Following that line of reasoning, one could even call fossil fuels ‘renewable’. As new forest could soak up the CO2, be absorbed by tectonic movements, and turned into coal or crude oil again. +only some 400 million years later.
-
Technically no, I think, because microbes have since evolved that decompose the biomass before it gets locked away. But yeah, it's a stretch to use renewables for biomass that's replaced slowly.

When did Hydro stop being a renewable? As you scale wind you will find similar sized environmental problems as hydro.

This is what happens every year in Kuala Lumpur: Neighbour country Indonesia performs annual palm oil crop rotation by open burning. Unaccounted formidable CO2 release and extremely toxic pollution. Why ? Biodiesel business. Ironypic.twitter.com/gJ4No6f6FZ

Isn’t that the Petronas Tower in the picture? Ironic, isn’t it?

Forest biomass has been increasing in the developed world since the War. Even if 100% of harvest were burnt (most isn't), can you explain how forests can simultaneously be a net sink and a net source of carbon?

EU needs to keep facilitating more NG to move from oil and coal. The USA has swung primarily a coal to NG movement to "green-up" the national grid production the last decade.
-
USA shows 10x Solar and 3x Wind growth, but the total energy production still stands with fossil fuels and will for decades ahead. Even Biomass is up 40%.pic.twitter.com/ooH56UHJfQ
