Cultural and technological adjustments appear inevitable in relation to both energy and insulation efficiency and sufficiency. I hope related sub-Arctic and temperate zone investments-in building materials, HVAC, textiles-grow while business adjusts to new realities.
This seems like an excellent argument for greater income redistribution to marginalized groups. It seems likely that any group this sensitive to gas-prices is facing increased mortality from all kinds of price increases -- food prices for example.
