!!! The polarisation of view points along tribal/political lines undermines any solution/mitigation-based strategies. As a child of the left, I find it remarkable that those even (!) farther left of me refuse to talk with me for my "right-of-them" position.

It is highly likely that social media has altered how we think and gain wisdom but polarisation of views existed back in the 70s. Julian Simon had to have bets with Paul Ehrlich and others to persuade them that we weren't running out of resources. He won but it had little effect.
