Hi, I'm reading your book. I wonder if there has ever been a study on the possibility of putting an artificial layer outside the Earth to reduce sunlight transmission to the atmosphere (in case of emergency). Is it possible (or feasible) or not?

yes, called geo-engineering. There is a whole chapter 14 about this — short version, good to have a backup plan, let't research, but not yet deploy
