Which elites would these be, exactly? The world is spending over half a trillion yearly in upstream oil and gas development. Another 50 billion for coal, another 150 billion for fossil generation, five trillion in fossil fueled autos, parts and services, and on and on.

The elite are representing themselves. By creating a panic, they have managed to have people actually request more taxes, willingly give more power to the government and give away freedom all in the name of the Holy cause of saving the planet.
