Well do you know how much money we spend on coal, gas and oil? Up to 46 billion a year... according to a 2017 study...
Are renewables competitive yet? Current solutions don't seem to be, as Germany spends €18 billion on subsidizing solar and wind.
If Germany wants to make a difference, it should invest in green R&D to innovate better solutions.

Subsidies means that you spent this amount on top to make an approach competitive to other approaches... Germany spents for direct and indirect subsidies between 30 to 50 bln € and this for a share of green energy on primary energy consumption of about 14% ( S+W only about 7%).

with the so called EEG-contribution even almost 30 billion €... And that's just the direct subsidies. Due to the priority access of green energy the energy prizes increase and give indirect subsidies... It's a fiasco because mainly clean nuclear power plants are replaced.
