Climate change is real, man-made and something we need to deal with smartly. But the claim that California's fires are caused by climate change is misleading. Translated into policy, it would steer the state to the worst way to prevent future fires.https://nypost.com/2020/09/14/sorry-solar-panels-wont-stop-californias-fires/ …

As one who spent 50 years building quantitative models of complicated phenomena, I really doubt we know enough to pinpoint the climate part. But I agree with the general point being made. Most economic models don’t have temperature in them though Tinbergen’s models did.

Yes and if it is only climate change, why are there no fires in Canada? They are experiencing the mildest years of the last decade because...wait for it... they targeted forest management as a solution. Newsom's response: *crickets*

Possibly because the Canadians don't go in for Gender Reveal parties as much as the Americans do? ;-)

The pannic merchants ran exactly the same arguments during our last big bush fire event here in Australia They actually WANT their nonsense to be true because that is what they think their Green God needs to be credible

Yup. It's a reluctance to invest in major infrastructure and good management practice. The excuse of calling that the problem is only climate change, lets these companies walk free, and of course in turn, keeps their shareholders happy. Don't reject capitalism, do it properly.
