The greatest lesson from all this is one of lack of critical thinking and education. Huge gaps in understanding of 1) Statistics 2) Risk / Reward 3) Biology 4) How Science works (it’s messy) and how models are always wrong (but some are useful)

Not sure it’s “[t]he greatest lesson” so much as “one of the greatest lessons”—I can think of some other good candidates for the title. But you’re right about the gap in understating in relation to 1-4. It’s both depressing and alarming.
