strain splits probably go a long way toward explaining why Hubei, Daegu, NY, etc fared so much worse than other areas... many diseases seem to evolve toward strains more contagious but less virulent (reproductive advantages)

If this emerged in Europe in February surely this is the version many have already caught. Might explain why China were able to contain it.
