Govts make these trade offs all the time. Roads would be a good example. If we didn’t have them, the US would save 38k lives, and 4 mill serious injuries. But they know the economy needs roads, so they build them, knowing many will die. Ending the lockdown is same thing.

Bjorn I normally agree with you especially on climate change - however I don't fully on Covad. The framing of reopen and fix the economy is a false choice. You can't fix the economy without halting the virus. People did/will not go out and spend while the virus is prevalent.

They'd spend more than currently with forced shutdowns, especially as time goes on.
