One of the many benefits of plastic (not only single-use, like disposable cups, glows, etc) has always been protection against unsanitary conditions, spoilage and contamination. We have to rethink our hasty ban-anything-plastic policies.

Plastics are an enormous net-positive for the environment. Pollution from plastics (including oceans) is mostly about incompetent/nonexistent local waste management is poor countries. Solution is to help the poor become rich, not for the rich to abandon plastic.

But, apparently someone handling plastics allows the virus to live on the surface of said item for two days. A stock-boy working at a restaurant who is sick but must come to work can infect all those who buy his stocked-products. Plastic can carry if sneazed-on by a carrier.
