#Climatechange is a real problem. It is man-made, and it will have negative consequences. But trying to stop emitting CO₂ by 2050 or sooner is a very expensive way to do almost no good.

Exactly it's like trying to demand Interstellar space travel tomorrow, the right technology takes time, today's renewables are not up to the task more research needed,the alarmism is past a joke now !

Solar is cheaper than coal now. We HAVE (most of) the technology to substantially reduce emissions. In fact the only thing that might be needed is an end to *subsidies* for fossil fuels (sensible, conservative policy) & moderate CO2 pricing (which conservative economists support)

What would that “sceptical eye“ tell us? Would it change that the climate projections have been right for 40yrs? Would it change that on that path we get to unprecedented warming in human times? No. Scepticism is always good, ignoring reality isn’t.

Sensible risk management means we should start reducing emissions now. Setting 0 in 2050 seems a sensible goal considering climate projections, but we have ample time to re-consider if warming is slowing down faster than expected. Not true the other way round!

And what’s more important than bickering about the target year for net 0 is WHEN we start and WHAT policies we implement. That’s by far the biggest driver of costs - so let’s argue for sensible policies (cap & trade) and NOT for endless delays.
