Wouldn’t that tax money be better spent by letting poor people keep it, so they can equip their homes to better protect them from warmer temperatures? If they pay more tax, they will have less money for A/C units, fans, home insulation, etc. And have less money to relocate.
If we want to solve global warming, we should invest much more in research and development to innovate down the real cost of renewables below fossil fuels. That way everyone will eventually switch.

Renewables aren't that costly...it's storage that's the problem/huge cost. We desperately need storage tech to keep up, especially on a homeowner http://scale.PLUS a viable recycling solution for renewables at end of life. Current solar panels and turbines are toxic waste.
