In Germany, it's the other way around: Only if you are up in the hierarchy you are allowed to work from home. So people who make more money are more likely in home office.

I'm not really sure what can be concluded from that. Isn't it just that the people who get to work from home are the ones who have the leverage to do so? To see how much working from home hurts/helps productivity, we'd have to eleminate that confounder.
