Burning and recycling may be much cheaper than elimination and at worse mitigates GHG effects.

You have just taken these metrics of human welfare out of context and ignored the fact that many of your examples have come at the cost of overwhelming ecological destruction. Abandoning fossil fuels is essential, but I agree we need to intelligently decide how to get there.
