You should highlight your own country for nuance. A country which in many ways is comparable to HK. Only instead of 2017 Denmark had the spike in 2015 and slump during 2016-2018. EVs make up *ALMOST* 2% marketshare in Denmark despite huge subsidies. An ICE priced 50K USD from factory is added so much registration tax that the price to customer is almost 120K USD. An EV priced 50K is only 68K to the consumer. And roadtax is lower too. Still <2% buys EVs

Well, it was a pretty huge avoidance of the first-registration taxes. And talk was that shadow buyers make up the majority of the last spike there, which became re-sellers for months after.
