Depressing how climate makes good organizations lose their proportion Medical organizations claim unsupportably that climate biggest public 21st century *health* challenge Just obesity kills 409,000 Americans every year Alcohol kills 88,000 each yearhttps://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/449980-medical-groups-climate-change-greatest-public-health-challenge-21st-century …

Correct air pollution big killer (not 200K+, but 70-100K) but about better regulation of power plants, industrial processes & cars, not more renewables (and even then, much PM2.5 from car tires) weasely/no link to climate https://www.atmos-chem-phys.net/18/15003/2018/ https://climatehealthaction.org/media/cta_docs/US_Call_to_Action.pdf …pic.twitter.com/WQCIsLaAeZ

Arguing catastrophes have caused "thousands of deaths" is weasely — over many years, and nothing compared to 409K deaths/year from obesity (http://ihmeuw.org/4tx0 ) Moreover, it neglects that globally, because of prosperity, deaths from climate declining https://www.facebook.com/bjornlomborg/photos/a.221758208967/10157523426118968/?type=3&theater …pic.twitter.com/LWAILxelIE

And really, heat vs cold? In their climate-obsession, these esteemed medical societies forgot to check the data The US has 24x more cold than heat deaths (extrapolated to 2019, about 5K heat, 207K cold) https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0160412017310346 …pic.twitter.com/fj6IEJVSAu

And even with strong warming *and* adaptation, it is likely that even the future, will see fewer, not more heat/cold deaths http://www.nber.org/papers/w23271 http://dx.doi.org/10.1289/ehp.1307524 …pic.twitter.com/tQvNBcC6iL

Which climate change is the problem? I've always had the feeling you were pandering to the warmers just enough so their community wouldn't destroy you.
Kiitos. Käytämme tätä aikajanasi parantamiseen. KumoaKumoa

Bjorn, you often quote this income reduction figure as a comprehensive demonstration of impact, but I'm not sure that's a fair assumption? Many costs may not be captured in income. Note that GDP now widely recognised as an incomplete measure of prosperity/wellbeing

Widely recognized by those who are engaged in selling very expensive renewables and pushing climate change. Otherwise, GDP is the best source. Why GDP Still Matters Jun 20, 2019 BJØRN LOMBORGhttp://bit.ly/2Yc7P8I

Climate change isn't even a problem. Rising CO2 make plants more water-efficient & drought-resistant, which is helping to "green" arid regions. Best scientific evidence is that manmade climate change is modest & benign, and CO2 emissions are beneficial. https://www.sealevel.info/greening_earth_spatial_patterns_Myneni.html …pic.twitter.com/UhkqUSJICO

Rising CO2 levels have increased agricultural productivity by about 20%. If we didn't have that improvement, we could approximately make up the difference by putting ALL of the world's rainforests to agricultural use. https://sealevel.info/learnmore.html#benefits …pic.twitter.com/F0XflKzR8u
