Adapt to what? Breathing underwater and scorching heat? The gist is that people *can’t* adapt that quickly—at least not large swaths of the population. In a scarcity of resources situation, we’ll see violence and death competing to survive, waiting for equilibrium.

Have you ever been in a disaster, like when your home is destroyed by a tornado or flood? How do you adapt to no food or shelter? There is no adapt; only die. Climate change is the same—as we squander the resources to curb the problem now, we destroy the ability to adapt later.
