This sounds interesting, but worrisome at the same time. Erradicating these mosquitoes will surely have an effect in the food chain at least and affect other species. At the same time Malaria is no joke and needs to be dealt with. This is possibly a double edged sword in some way

Eliminating mosquitoes is a good thing. Species impacted will evolve. Stasis is good mantra is naive.

GM fungus ‘kills 99% of malaria mosquitoes’ And of course the first reactions are OMG it must be bad, it will doom us all, it will result in ‘super mosquitoes’ that will take over the planet. It must be stoped in case it proves GM to be usefull - it’s Golden Rice all over again.
