I think the technical term is a con job. Check out the Arnhem Land Aboriginals who burn their land earlier in the year than they used to and get carbon credits for it....and they travel around by helicopter to do it.
The UN functions on carbon offsets. Only, it's the taxpayers of the world paying for it while the UN functionaries continue to jet around the world from one useless meeting to another.
