Maybe read my tweet first? The 2019 article ends with saying their sea level rise could result in 187 million people being displaced. That reference (38), was the 2011 paper that says, no, even 2m SLR will not displace 187 million, because adaptationpic.twitter.com/WpGZHonEBP

“Potentially avoidable” isn’t quite the same thing as “will not happen,” though; and the authors of the new paper, by my read, take the same position: we need to adjust our expectations of what is possible so we can better prepare and adapt.
