Impressive, but what is the story behind this graph? Why has our ability to predict/prevent/mitigate/whatever climate disasters improved so much faster than our ability to do the same for non-climate disasters?
it's mostly drought that used to kill a lot of people when food was scarce in many areas; now food isn't scarce anymore in most of the world
As correctly pointed, technologically advanced society indeed caused the drop of deaths, and that is exactly the reason why this statistics is misleading and wrong to bring into the discussion on climate-change.
Otherwise, the statistics is really interesting. Humanity learnt to sustain its population by means of agriculture expansion and globalisation, but it still cannot protect itself against the unforeseeable disasters. This is what the table actually shows.
Climate disasters may become more frequent due to climate change, but the evidence suggests that any such negative trend will be swamped by improvements in our resilience to disasters thanks to science/tech progress & economic development.
