We don't ask people to vote on truths But we do ask them to vote on policy in a democracy: how much to spend on health, education, foreign aid, climate etc. So, this is a perfectly acceptable survey on people's priorities (which is why the UN did it)

That’s exactly the point! You’ve made the assumption that the people you’re polling aren’t ignorant, and they wouldn’t be voting against their own self interest. But this is not the case in reality! Democracy doesn’t work when there is a critical mass of ill informed citizenry.
