the damage done bye destroying coral reefs is simply way, way out of scope of your economic model. Scientists/engineers running real models know firsthand what the limits of the theory and a model are, all other are basically half-wits with a too big computer. You are welcome

I do distinguish between natural science and social/economics. Modeling and other science for the former is based (in the case of climate) on physics, chemistry and biology. Not to diss all social and economic work by any means but not equivalently robust.

Are you saying a coral reef loss is not a cost?

Coral reefs will be fine (as far as AGW is concerned). CO2 has been proven to be very benifficial with low (next 20 yrs) to modest (next 60 yrs), elevations in CO2. Also, if we’re to believe the sea level will keep rising, this should create a buffer for heat damage.

@BjornLomborg and@mark_lynas continue. I follow both of them and would like to hear more respectful debate on this issue. -
Each of them has made an interesting point here. Some things are hard to measure economically but that doesn’t mean we should ignore the economic impact.
