What triggers me the most is when I hear people say poor countries will leap frog the electric grid and go direct to distributed solar energy. And then they compare it to telecommunications... They fail to grasp the scale of energy infrastructures.
The well-intentioned but dangerous trend is for rich world thought leaders to declare that poor nations should ‘leapfrog’ the old technologies that industrialized the developed world.

I hear you. It's a numbers thing though, isn't it?People may have an idea of how much gasoline they use, but the scale of the fossil fuel industry is staggering.For people not engaged in this closely,they're not aware of their kWh use, nor the percent that's covered by renewables

The idea is not to deny people energy services, but leapfrog to cleaner technologies that prove such services. The idea is laudable, but whether that is techno economically workable is a different story

It’s more immoral to push one’s “way of living” on others who aren’t ready or simply don’t want them. If the Western way of doing things was moral, why is this planet on the verge of, or in the process of, an ecosystem collapse? The old ways are coming back..like it or not.

This is a list of individual actions. What about large scale infrastructure changes? If no one had children, we'd still be facing this issue of decarbonizing our society.

The core Progressive message is "people of color" are inferior and must be "helped" to "do the right thing" by superior Europeans who know best. It is inherently racist and elitist.
