Great discussion, thanks! I agree on most of what you discussed, but here are some points you may want to consider, which I did not see covered, but are imho of crucial importance to it:

1/3 1. Real free trade is great, but imho dev. countries, particularly Africa, would benefit much more by producing what they need for themselves instead of what rich countries don’t. I propose a moratorium on patents older than 5 years to allow this.

2/3 2. It seems unlikely, but even if CO2 is the true cause of global warming, then why did neither of you discuss the most obvious solution, which is Nuclear energy? More development is required for Thorium, but current modern designs are effective, cheap and safe.

3/3 Although we are (relatively) rich as countries, we in Europe are actually not. Most of us are just one or two paychecks from bankruptcy due to taxes, housing & insurance. A small increase would knock many of us of the treadmill. That is what the yellowjackets is all about.

Researching renewables seems like a waste of money, nothing will change fundamentals of low energy density intermittent power.
